Washington, July 20, 1882.
Sir: Referring to the notes recently exchanged between us, touching the depredations of Ju’s band of hostile Indians, which was destroyed [Page 435] by the Mexican troops at Bosque de Santiago, I have the honor to transmit herewith, as of probable interest to you and to your government, a copy of a memorandum furnished to me by the Secretary of War, concerning the movements of the American troops and the cooperation of the Mexican forces prior to the overthrow of that band.
Accept, &c.,
FRED’K T. FRELINGHUYSEN.
