The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Nanking to the Chinese Legation72

In spite of the peace mediation participated in by the British, American and French Ministers in Shanghai, the Japanese Commanders delivered last night an ultimatum to General Tsai Tin-kai and Mayor Wu Te-Chen embodying demands which are intolerable and utterly unacceptable. There is now practically no hope for peace, and the American Government is urgently requested to act in dealing with the situation.
