Sir: The Department has received your No. 303 of the 29th ultimo, covering a copy of a note from the Foreign Office making formal acceptance on the part of the British Government of the gift of a replica of Houdon’s statue of Washington offered by the State of Virginia.
It has afforded the Department pleasure to communicate copies of your despatch and of its enclosure to the Governor of Virginia with reference to the previous correspondence.
