This telegram is for repetition to the American embassy at Petropolis for its information, guidance, and discreet use, as well as for your own. It is to be repeated for the information of the American legations at Quito and Lima.
The Chilean chargé has asked an expression as to the intimation of Ecuador to this Government of a desire that the Government of [Page 463] Chile have some part in the preliminary discussion of an arrangement of the Peru-Ecuador boundary, and the following aide-mémorie will to-day be handed him.
