Nanking, June 17, 1949—5 p. m.

1312. I returned Nanking by Shanghai night train arriving here this morning 7 a. m. Trip without incident except half-hour delay city gates Nanking while passes were checked. Department will recall Nanking railroad station outside city walls. Luggage, three unclassified pouches were not subjected to inspection.
