1787. American Interests—Japan. Legation’s airmail 9246, September 15,59 telegram 945, February 10.60 Swiss report that according [Page 409] telegram from Swiss Legation Tokyo its delegate observed increasing food inadequacy at Urawa during most recent visit. Swiss Legation now plans effect collective relief shipments to camps but it is progressively difficult, except for camp number 211,61 to send relief except in financial form to internees in country where everything is lacking. Gorgé considers that as already suggested (Legation’s 1226, February 2462) only solution is another urgent shipment of food from United States. Swiss Legation already made repeated representations Japanese Foreign Office obtain improvement food.
