A–876. American Interests—Netherlands—Germany. Legation’s airmail 9052 August 18.13 Foreign Office note December 20 states Swiss Legation Berlin received early in December note dated October 19 from German Foreign Office reading in part in translation as follows:
“The Foreign Office has ordered that personal property of British and American nationals, as well as of nationals of other countries whose interests are protected by Switzerland, will not be claimed for the use of German people who have suffered damage through bombardment.”
