I informed Vyshinski⁴⁸ last night of the report regarding the recent attempt on Von Papen’s life as presented in the Department’s 122, March 14.⁴⁹ Vyshinski expressed great appreciation, and said the information confirmed other reports reaching the Soviet Government indicative of efforts by Germany to provoke a conflict between Russia and Turkey.
