The Government has a well equipped force in the field and could soon put down the rebellion on the northwestern frontier were it not for the effective aid they claim the Haitian Government is giving it. The Minister for Foreign Affairs is anxious to know the attitude of our Government to the funding for the purchase in the United States of a fast gunboat with a good battery; this, he says, would greatly reduce the expenditures for maintaining peace.
