Sir: With reference to your notes Nos. 1540 and 15511 of the 20th ultimo and 1st instant respectively, I have the honour, under instructions from His Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, to express the cordial thanks of His Majesty’s Government for the readiness of your Government to instruct your Naval authorities in Cuban waters to offer protection to British lives and property during the late disturbances on the island.
