File No. 816.00/148.

The Secretary of State to the American Minister to Guatemala.

[Telegram.—paraphrase.]

The Department learns from the Minister of Salvador that Guatemalan troops are leaving the frontier in large numbers and that Salvador believes it unnecessary to send two representatives to accompany the Military Attaché of your Legation to the frontier.

The Department, however, sees no objection to the Attaché going over the ground if he could obtain reliable valuable information.

Knox.
