311. A British squadron of 5 warships debarked troops apparently from Palestine and Egypt at Piraeus this afternoon. According to the British Consul there, the troops number “several thousand” and more are expected. Hundreds have already been brought to Athens for temporary billets, receiving an ecstatic reception from the people.
