2755. ReEmbs 2703, September 1, 5 p.m.27 In conversation with Sampayo yesterday I again made reference to the question of asylum for war criminals. Sampayo stated that note had been taken of our position in this respect. He added that there was no pending request before the Portuguese Government on the subject.
