The Minister of Cuba to the Secretary of State.

My Dear Mr. Secretary: I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favor of the 13th instant,1 in which you state that the Honorable President has directed the Honorable Secretary of State to visit [etc.]

I note with great satisfaction the expression of the Secretary’s anticipations as regards his visit to Cuba and his sentiments and those of the United States towards my country; and I can assure you that my Government and the people of Cuba will gladly improve the opportunity now offered them to show Secretary Knox their high appreciation of his personality and his friendly interest in Cuba, and also the warm friendship of my country towards the United States.
