The Department will give the following to the press to-morrow:

In consideration of his several hard years of service in Honduras, in the Department of State, and at Habana, it was the intention of the Department to transfer Mr. Hugh S. Gibson, now Secretary of Legation at Habana, to be Secretary of Legation at Brussels. But owing to Mr. Gibson’s special familiarity with American interests in Cuba, the President has directed that he be retained at Habana.
