File. No. 812.00/4884.

The American Consul at Nogales to the Secretary of State.

[Telegram.—Paraphrase.]

Rebels appeared about 3 miles east of Aguaprieta, coming toward Aguaprieta. In view thereof the commanding officer of the United States troops stationed in Douglas stated verbally and personally to the commanding officer of the Federal troops in Aguaprieta that he must prevent bullets fired by the troops under his command from passing into the territory of the United States, and has sent a writen message to the same effect by a civilian courier to the commanding officer of the threatening revolutionary forces.
