Legislation
The German Federal Foreign Office Archives are governed by the Law on the Preservation and Use of Federal Archival Documents of 1988. Everybody shall upon application have the right to use Federal archival documents more than 30 years old unless legal stipulations provide otherwise.
Location
The reading room is located in the Federal Foreign Office building between Werderscher Markt and Gertraudenstrasse in Berlin-Mitte. The entrance to the Political Archive is at Kurstrasse 36, and the Reading Room is on the 1st floor.
Procedures
All requests to use the archives must be made through the contact form on the website.

The German Federal Foreign Office has published numerous volumes of documents. New volumes are published every year for events 30 years ago.
